Day 3: Ywa Ngan – Padah Lin Cave - Kume (B/L/-)
Note: Today involves very steep climbs on the uneven rough-surface road, therefore, it is necessary to shoulder your bikes here and there for about 5 to 10 kilometers until you reach the caves of Padah Lin hidden in the middle of nowhere!
After early breakfast at hotel, with water enough for full-day adventure, we will bike from the hotel into the villages heading due west to the mountains. We cycle around 6 kilometers until we reach the last village called Hmyar Kalay, the Little Arrow and then from there, we turn right to the paved but neglected jungle trails. The trails are for the 4-wheel trucks but with the torrential rains, the earth road turns to deep muddy surface and it is difficult sometimes to ride on it even on the downhill slopes. Crossing the mountains is the most beautiful and adventurous off-the-beaten-track and less beaten track.
The distance from Ywa Ngan to Padah Lin caves actually is about 45 kilometers, however, very difficult climbs and rocky slopes make our pace too slow. And normally, we reach the summit of the mountain in about 2 hours time where we can have bird's eye's view of the Kin Tar Water Storage Dam. From the summit, we hit the downhill cycling challenge and somewhere on the way is a rest house where we can have a break. From there, we follow the dirt trail till we find the cave's sign in the jungle. Explore the Cave 2 where we will see a small pagoda in the middle of the cave on which the spotlight coming from the rooftop hole.
Then, we ride for about 5 mintues to Cave 1 where we can observe the paintings on the wall from the stone age.
Then, we will contine our ride to the dam and get a boat to transfer to Kan Sel village where we have our picnic lunch. Afterwards, we proceed another 30 kilometers on a bike to Kume town.
